Maple Lane Pottery began in 1988 when Robbi Fritz Portela moved to what would become Maple Lane Farm in Windsor, Maine with her husband Bill. Robbi started out by teaching pottery classes in a small studio in the leaky and drafty barn. A few years later she and Bill had renovated the downstairs ell of their 1800's farmhouse into a heated studio and small gallery. The gallery soon outgrew this space and was moved to the upstairs of the partially restored, three story post and beam barn which is now Maple Lane Gallery. The rural landscape and creatures on the farm are a constant inspiration for Robbi's pottery. She still teaches pottery classes in her studio and also sells her work to a variety of shops and galleries. Robbi's children, Alex and Camrin are both very creative and also love to work with clay.
